A peaceful, quiet, average day in Coffee Table Land
The Coal Box... a simple wooden box, but I am cutting holes in ways to
amplify perspective...
* Removing material... yet adding to its presence, and aesthetic.
* The oval portholes on this N scale layout not only provide a peekaboo effect but, this structure in the background serves to show a viaduct image off in the distance. This is a very tricky design element serving two purposes, form and function at work.
The Huck Sawyer Effect
* Little holes in the corner present the illusion of one looking through a hole in a fence, and seeing the train coming right at you... but alas it turns off in the nick of time... This is another great tricky element for "visual stroll" railroading, and the presentation of a perspective that will make you feel like a kid again, if only for a moment.
* There is a top view with or without the lens, this particular perspective I call "balloon ride" a visual stroll from altitude... especially when you are standing in the sky...with that birdseye view... and your feet planted firmly on the ground.
* There is a bottom... a base that functions as a case, and protects the lens for shipping... If you ever have to move you'll be glad you have this.
* The glass / lens is handcarved and sand carved with regalia of railroad art and a wonderful reminder of the 19th century and its folk art movement and atmosphere...
